Eco Friendly Home Improvements
Reviewed: 19th January 2009
Recently homeowners have been urged to make as many changes to their homes, not only to improve the saleability of their properties, but also to reduce their bills and carbon footprint. In a recent survey carried out by Lloyds TSB, 73% of people who took part claimed that installing a new kitchen is the best way of adding value to a property.
The survey also showed that a high percentage of people thought that an energy efficient boiler was the easiest and quickest environmentally friendly home improvement that added most value to a property.
In BuyEco’s 50 Ways To Help The Planet, a number of suggestions relating to kitchens are listed as well as bathroom hints and tips such as not pre-heating ovens and sharing showers (with your partner). There are many things that can be done to improve the saleability of your eco friendly home, increase its value where kitchens and bathrooms are concerned and at the same time reduce your monthly bills and help the environment.
If you are looking to improve the saleability of your property then a good place to start is by talking to your plumber who will be able to give you sound advice on your heating system options and energy efficiency for starters. A good plumber will work with reputable kitchen fitters and other professional craftsmen to provide a complete service and overall they will be able to provide you with space-saving and energy efficient solutions.
As of April 2005 all new and replacement gas fired boilers were required to be the new energy efficient condensing type. Condensing boilers produce up to 30% less Carbon Dioxide than conventional boilers and can even cut heating bills by up to 40%.
